On This Seattle Food Tour...
Vital Tea Leaf
You’ll always receive a warm welcome here, the tasting counter is ideal for learning about the many varieties of different teas they sell. The staff is well-informed and happy to share their knowledge of tea with beginners.
De Laurenti’s Specialty Food & Wine
A foodie destination for over 65 years, this Italian/Mediterranean grocery features over 200 hand-selected cheeses, prosciuttos, local artisan salami from Salumi’s, an inexpensive deli, the best Italian wine selection in Seattle and I’m only scratching the surface.
Bottega Italiana
Conceived by two homesick Italians, Bottega Italiana is regarded as the best gelato shop in the city. Using seasonal fruits, and never any corn syrup or artificial colors their authentic gelati produces pure flavor.
The Crumpet Shop
Founded in 1976, this family business continues to make all their crumpets from scratch daily, using only all-natural ingredients. You will be hard pressed to find another shop like this one anywhere in the world.
Pike Place Chowder
Voted the best New England Style Clam Chowder three years in a row at the prestigious Great Clam Chowder Cook Off in Newport, Rhode Island and later inducted to the Clam Chowder Hall of Fame (yes there is one). America’s best chowder is right here in Seattle.
La Buona Tavola
This gourmet jewel box bombards the senses with a variety of truffle products, aged balsamic vinegars, Italian wines from small family vineyards and, on very special occasions, fresh truffles from Umbria.
Pure Food Fish Market
Since 1914, locals in the know have been buying their fish from the Amon family, Sol Amon who is often referred to as the “Cod Father” has been tending shop for over 56 years. His recipe for Alder-Smoked Salmon is the best I’ve ever tasted.
Alm Hill Farms
Ben Craft and Gretchen Hoyt planted their first field of raspberries on Alm Hill in the early 1970s. Over the next three decades, the team carefully perfected a delicious and expansive variety of organic berries and vegetables. Today Alm Hill is Washington State’s largest organic farming coop.
Pink Door Restaurant
The Pink Door tempts with homespun Italian-American food, conversations that flow as liberally as the Baralo, provocative – always free – live entertainment, and a warm, lively respite from the ordinary world.
